The blast effects of the large calibre guns would kill any crew manning those guns, and often damaged the mounts. The reason for this is that guns on the turret tops could not be used while the main battery was in action. It's worth noting that these mounts quickly disappeared before reappearing again much later as AAA mounts like the bofors you mention. I would like to see turret-top 2"-3" secondaries as well. It's just that many people define success as obliterating torpedo boats and DDs rather than keeping them at a distance and/or making them take evasive actions, both make it more difficult to establish a firing solution for their torpedoes. ![]() I love secondaries! I just think that seeing as they were weak and inaccurate in reality, they should be in-game too. I know secondaries aren't very popular on the forums, but I have had success with them, and ships look empty without them. I think the North Carolina had a 40-mm quad up there, so obviously some size restrictions would apply. If you want something new to try, give this build a shot.While talking turrets, it would be cool to be able to put secondaries on top of them like this. I can now brawl somewhat and most of all I'm less fearful of DDs at close range.Īt a minimum it gives me another option in terms of gameplay without handicapping the ship. And yes the secondaries are useless against anything larger than a DD lol. Granted the NC's secondaries are lame compared to every other ship but they're sufficient to deter DDs. DDs never expect an NC to start pouring out accurate secondary fire at 7.6km and it's just enough to drive most away. So how is it? It lets me bring in the NC that much closer. No AA either as most CVs avoid NC's on principle anyway and the CV population at this tier is small. ![]() I don't bother with the plotting room upgrade since with the dispersion that range boost doesn't really contribute much. ![]() So I figured I'd try tossing in manual secondary skill and the secondary module to mix things up. I love the NC but it can pretty one-dimensional - aim bow at enemy, fire big shells, repeat. ![]()
